We will explore the traditional role of the arts and, in particular, drama in Jesuit education, and witness staged readings of two plays written by Fr. McKinney: KILLING TIME, on the strange friendship of Albert Einstein at Gödel at Princeton between 1941 and 1955 and CHECKMATE, a contemporary mystery surrounding the creation of a play about the suppression of the Jesuits in 1773.

The Legacy of Colonialism in the Middle East

GOODWIN COOKE, Professor, Maxwell School, Syracuse University, former ambassador to the Central African Republic
Goodwin Cooke joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1956, where he held a varied of appointments in numerous embassies, and served as U.S. Ambassador to the Central African Republic. He was a professor in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Administration, and directed its undergraduate program in International Relations. He is now Professor Emeritus, continuing his teaching and activities in the Syracuse community.

Harvey Sicherman, a graduate of the University of Scranton, received his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. He is President of Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia and a former aid to three US secretaries of state.

J. Alexander Thier, joined the U.S. Institute for Peace as senior advisor in the Rule of Law program in 2005. He is the director of the project on constitution-making, peace building, and national reconciliation and codirector of the International Network to Promote the Rule of Law. He is also responsible for several rule-of-law programs in Afghanistan.
