Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy


Master of Science for Occupational Therapy Practitioners

The University offers course work leading to a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy for occupational therapists who currently hold a B.S. degree in OT and who are either alumni of The University of Scranton's Bachelor of Science in OT or currently practicing occupational therapists.  The Master of Science in OT for practitioners with a Bachelor of Science in OT is 24 graduate credits.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in OT from an occupational therapy program that is accredited by ACOTE.  They should have an overall GPA of at least 2.75 or the equivalent (based on a 4.0 scale).  In addition, the applicant must be currently practicing or eligible to practice as well as show evidence that s/he has passed the national certification examination and meets, or is able to meet, state licensure requirements.   Please submit the following for admission:

  • A completed application form, $50 fee

  • Bachelor's Degree, minimum GPA 2.75 (4.0 scale) 

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts 

  • 3 letters of recommendation

  • Evidence that he/she has passed the national certification examination and is able to meet state licensure requirements. 

  • TOEFL score required for international students 

Curriculum
The Master of Science in OT degree for practitioners with a Bachelor of Science in OT is 24 graduate credits.  Courses will be offered at times convenient to the non-traditional student such as evenings, weekends, intersessions and summers.  It is estimated that part-time students will be able to complete the degree in two calendar years.

Entry Level Master of Science

The University offers a five-year, entry-level Master of Science degree program in Occupational Therapy.  Students usually enter this program as freshmen, proceed through four years of undergraduate study, receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences, and are awarded the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy upon completion of graduate requirements.  Admission to the program is normally open to first-time incoming freshmen.
