How to get Accepted to College

Through recent research done by professionals, I've discovered that there a few things to take into consideration when applying to schools and getting accepted into the ones of your choice.  I've listed a few things to take into consideration to make your application process a little less stressful and hopefully guarantee you a spot in the school of your choice.

These are just a few suggestions.  However, it will be your unique personality and goals which will set you apart from other applicants and in part get you accepted to your college of choice.

  • High School Transcript: Include Advanced Placement classes to emphasize your strengths.

  • SAT or ACT scores: Take this standardized test more than once for your own benefit.

  • Extracurricular Activities: These will set you apart from other student applicants and it is important to express your well rounded behaviors.

  • Well-Organized Application Essay

  • Recommendations

  • Interview

  • Early Decision:  Deciding which college or university you would like to attend early and handing in an application before others has been heard to increase your chance of acceptance by 15%

I've also included some more helpful information.  This website created by the University of Texas lists, by state, all the universities and colleges throughout the United States.  It was revised this year, 2006, and if you are searching for specific schools this is a great way to become directly connected to your school of choice.

Also, according to the Princeton Review: Top 10 Dream Colleges
They asked the question, "What 'dream college' would you most like to attend (or see your child attend) were prospects of acceptance or cost not issues?," and with only a fill in the blank answer sheet these were the results:
