Tutor Training

The purpose of tutor training is to improve a tutor's observational skills, to develop interpersonal skills, and expand the tutor's knowledge base.

Tutors who can appreciate and conceptualize how they act as a mediator between educational resources (such as the professor, the textbook, study guides, supplemental materials and learning software) and the student's learning characteristics (learning preferences, background knowledge, level of motivation, attitude and learning differences) are likely to have a positive outcome on the tutee's academic performance. These tasks might sound overwhelming, but as you gain knowledge and experience, the ability to assess students' learning needs will improve over time.

As prospective tutors, you must review the all nine modules on this site (listed above). A few short assignments are given throughout which must be completed and submitted via ANGEL.
