UPCOMING ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

Something for everyone1

Movie Night:

We will be hosting movie nights during the Spring semester. Several professors have agreed to lead discussions about their favorite movies.  All are welcome to attend.  Stay tuned for more information.

Another trip to New York City is taking place on March 29.  This time we will see Harold Pinter's The Homecoming.  Everyone will have free time to do some shopping or sightseeing, and what would a trip to the city be without shopping?!

  Echoes of Transformation
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, MacFarland Student Union
  Kutztown, PA
  April 4, 2008

Echoes of Transformation is an English discipline conference that seeks to
explore the language that affects, or is an example of, radical change. We
are seeking papers that discuss work that is outside of the canon.
Postmodern, experimental, ethnic literature, or any text that has been
ignored by the larger academy. The essential question is this: how does
literature transform itself, and the society in which it exists?

  Call for Papers:
The Lambda Nu chapter of Sigma Tau Delta is seeking critical or creative
papers, from all disciplines of English studies, that describe or call for
change. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: style, theory,
criticism, cultural studies, genre, and gender studies.

  Deadlines and Fees:
Papers should be submitted to std@kutztown.edu by 2/28/2008. The
registration deadline for the conference is 3/7/2008. Please register using
the form on the website. Non-Kutztown University students should include a
   $25 registration fee.

Information about the 2008 International Convention

This year’s national conference will be taking place in Louisville, KY.  We hope you will consider submitting a paper. The conference will run from March 5-8. Participation applications and proposals are due before November 30, 2006. If you have any questions about your proposal or need any help please contact Joe Kraus or Rebecca Beal!

Convention Theme

The 2008 Sigma Tau Delta Convention invites you to celebrate contradiction in a city that is something of a paradox itself.
Convention Logo

Louisville was founded by a rebel —an American revolutionary general— yet is named for a French aristocrat. The city and the adjacent Ohio River symbolized freedom for slaves escaping to the North but housed a booming slave trade in its day. Its Kentucky Derby spurs on gamblers from around the globe without Louisville forfeiting the charm and gentility of a Southern city. And this polished and urban locale still manages to conjure images of bluegrass music and rolling hills.
Read full convention theme article by Convention Chair, Dr. Shannin Schroeder.

Suggestions for additional activities and opportunities are always welcomed.
If you are interested in participating in any of the activities or opportunities
of Sigma Tau Delta, or to make suggestions, please contact one of the
faculty co-moderators, Rebecca Beal or Joe Kraus.
