Student Athlete Advisory Committee
By-Laws
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee members will act as positive advocates for our student-athletes by promoting and supporting them in their varsity athletic programs, campus life, community initiatives, and academic pursuits.
Composition
The Committee is comprised of representatives from each varsity athletic team, if possible by an upperclassman and an underclassman. All team leaders, however, are encouraged to participate.
Officers
The Committee elects officers at the end of the spring semester of each year via a paper and/or e-mail ballot. A President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer are elected. A Webmaster is appointed on the basis of that individual’s proficiency for website design and maintenance.
The officers are responsible for presiding over the meeting agenda, assigning class representatives, forming ad hoc committees, attending and participating in the Middle Atlantic Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and as requested, maintaining a seat on The University of Scranton’s President Student Cabinet and other student governing bodies on campus.
Meetings
Meetings are held bi-monthly during the open class period

Our Athletic Director, Vice President for Student Affairs, and University President are invited to attend at least one meeting or function per year. We encourage their participation and support.
Attendance Policy
Recognition Award
The Committee selects an administrator, faculty, or staff member each year to honor at our student-athlete social event organized around National Student Athlete Day. The award is given to the individual who has best exemplified outstanding dedication, devotion, and enthusiastic support to our student-athletes during the current academic year. The recipient is presented with a plaque by the Committee officers.
