Leadership Opportunity:

The Dexter Hanley College Student Government is currently inviting applications for membership for the 2000-2001 academic year. A number of students who played very active roles on the council over the past several years will graduate in May, 2000. We are seeking interested and dedicated men and women to fill the vacancies that will result.

Purposes:

The purposes of the Hanley College Student Government are to:

Provide a forum for the expression of student views and interests.
Represent the Hanley College student body an affairs of the University of Scranton.
Provide and encourage academic freedom, academic responsibility and student leadership.
Enhance student moral, spiritual, cultural, social and physical welfare.
Promote better educational standards, facilities and teaching techniques.
Promote national and international understanding and fellowship at the student level.
Foster the recognition of the rights and responsibilities of students to the school, the community and humanity

Membership:

To be eligible for voting membership in Student Government, a student must be enrolled in Hanley College at the University of Scranton, must be following an approved curriculum of the University of Scranton, must maintain a minimum index of 2.0 and must apply in writing. To be eligible for non-voting alternate membership, one must simply be registered as a member of the Hanley College student body. A slate listing the names of those students who are eligible for the Student Government and who have indicated an interest in being considered for membership will be presented to the Hanley Student Government for approval (depending on the number of vacancies that exist at the time).

Inquiries and/or letters of application should be addressed to O'Hara Hall Office in Room 119 (Phone: (570) 941-7580).

Meetings take place every third Sunday of the month, Brennan Hall, Room 314 at 5:00 p.m.
