The following is a list of our available equipment:

Agilent and Caliper 1000 - LabChip assays cover a broad range of comparable gel concentrations for a greater range of sizing separation. Because sample loading, injection, and separation are precisely controlled on-chip, LabChip electrophoresis provides highly accurate analytical data. Lane-to-lane and plate-to-plate results are therefore extremely reproducible. Since only nanoliters of sample are used, the remaining sample can be used for other experiments. Fragments close in size that are often presented as broad bands on slab gels are distinctly resolved. Identification of small amounts of DNA or protein in the presence of other, more concentrated species, are easily detected.

Lypholizer System – A CCD based imaging system capable of acquiring images from luminescent and fluorescent dyes.  It has a maximum image capacity of 2.5 MB (full-size images) per image.  The system has state of the art white light and blue LEDs for enhanced sample illumination / excitation.

Imager – A spot excision robot used for accurate, high speed excision of protein spots from 1-D or 2-D gels.  It has an advanced internal liquid handling system and hydrates the gel based upon user-defined parameters in the ProPic control software.  The user can pick candidate protein spots through manual selection or an automated database search.  An integrated UV light box allows UV excitiation of fluorescently stained proteins on 2-D gels.

Microscopes – Zeizz Axiophot Microscopes, Olympus C011, B201

Robot – The BioRobot 9600 is a laboratory workstation designed especially for the automation of routine applications in general molecular biology research laboratories and core facilities.

  • Automated, standardized procedures for molecular biology

  • Cross-contamination–free liquid handling

  • Ready-to-run protocols for optimized processing

  • One reliable source for hardware, software, chemistry, and support

The BioRobot 9600 is a complete system for automating routine molecular biology tasks. Ready-to-run protocols are available for nucleic acid purification, reaction setup (PCR, sequencing, restriction digestion), PCR product cleanup, agarose-gel loading, and sample rearray. Additional protocols can be created with the easy-to-use QIAsoft Operating System.
