1. In the
Crosstabs window, you
need to put the variables that you are examining. You should use only
grouping
variables, or categorical
variables.
Move one into the rows, and one into
columns.
2. Click the
statistics button,
and then click the radial button for
Chi-Square.
3. Click the
cells button and make
sure you have the radial buttons under
Counts
(
Observed and
Expected)
have been selected.
4. In the output you will get 3 boxes.
1.
Case Processing Summary: Gives you the
Sample Size (N), amount of missing cases and
the percentages of valid and missing cases.
2. The next one will be a table consisting
of the variable x variable...
Crosstabulation:
This box shows you the frequency of occurrence and what was expected as well
as the totals
3. The final box,
Chi-Square Tests: contains the
Pearson Chi-Square value, the
Degrees of Freedom
which is [( # of rows -1) x (# of columns
- 1), and the
significance level.
