Women's Studies students may request permission from the Women's Studies
Committee to take a course not cross-listed with women's studies for women's
studies credit. The course must have sufficient women's studies content (as
determined by the Committee) and the student must do a significant project or
assignment on a women's studies topic.
While the Committee prefers that such requests are submitted prior to the
semester in which the course is completed, it may consider requests during the
semester in which the course is completed. In exceptional cases the Committee
may consider a request after the course has been completed. If such an ex post
facto request is considered a review of the work done in the course will be
added to the procedure outlined below.
-
Discuss with the instructor your interest in taking the course for women's
studies credit. If the instructor is willing to consider working with you to
receive women's studies credit, move to step two.
-
Prepare and sign a statement that indicates how the course and your
project/assignment meets the criteria for women's studies courses.
-
Ask the instructor to teed your statement. Ask the instructor to sign the
statement if they support it and your request for women's studies credits. The
instructor may wish to make her/his own statement in support of your request.
-
Submit your statement with the required signatures to the directors of the
Women's Studies Concentration.
-
The Women's Studies Executive Committee will review your request and make a
determination.
-
If your request is approved, you will need to complete a substitution form
for the Registrar's Office. |
