The New Class
After consultation with area school guidance counselors, twenty new students are selected for admission to the program each spring. Applicants must be in seventh or eighth grade. The selection process also attempts to balance gender and school representation.
Success Student Qualifications
Students who are underserved in higher education are selected for the program. To qualify for admission to the University of Success, a student must meet at least three of the following qualifications:
- The student’s family is economically disadvantaged.
- The student’s cultural background is typically underrepresented in higher education
- The student possesses at least average academic ability.
- The student is a potential first generation college student in his/her family.
To Apply
April 11, 2008 is the application deadline. Call Professor Bonnie Oldham at the Weinberg Memorial Library at the University of Scranton and ask to have your name put on a mailing list to receive an application. Students can also contact their guidance counselor for an application.
