- Library Purchases 2005-2009 SpringerLink eBook Backfile (Spring 2013)
- In November 2012, with the support of the Chemistry and Physics Departments, the Weinberg Memorial Library purchased the entire Springer backfile of eBooks for 2005-2009 – a total of more than 17,000 titles. The records for these books have been loaded into the library's online catalog. They are also accessible through the SpringerLink interface on the library's A to Z list of databases web page. > Full story
- The iPad 2 Now Available for Borrowing (Spring 2012)
- As we began the fall 2011 semester, students were pleasantly surprised to find the latest addition to the Library's circulating collection: the iPad 2. The tablets were introduced to students during the summer sessions, and by mid-September the three new devices became the most popular items getting checked out of the Library. > Full story

- The "Best Place to Study on Campus" Just Keeps Getting Better (Spring 2011)
- Since its "Grand Opening" on Sept. 22, 2010, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Student Government President Rita DiLeo, the library's new "24-hour room" keeps improving. From its inception, the project was developed to meet the growing needs of students for more 24-hour study space in the library comparable to what is available in the Pro Deo Room. > Full story
- The New Library Website: Collaboration in Action (Spring 2011)

It has been well received by the University community, and is always being improved as we receive new feedback and suggestions from our users. - QR Coeds @ the Library (Spring 2011)
You may have seen some crazy looking square barcodes appearing on advertisements, in magazines, and on some websites lately. These are QR codes, or Quick Response code, with data embedded for users. Anyone with a smart phone or QR reader capable phone can take a picture of the code and it will deliver instant data, like a website, phone number or plain text. > Full story- Abe L. - More of a Good Thing: Additional 24-Hour Study Space (Fall 2010)
- While some may think that having a wealth of materials online, accessible from any place with an internet connection, would result in fewer visits to the library, the use of the Weinberg Memorial Library as a place is in increasing demand. This summer, students' demands for more 24-hour space were met with the construction of a second 24-hour space in the library. > Full story

- IM Reference Now Available All Day (Spring 2009)

- Assistive Technology Available in the CTLE (Fall 2008)
- The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) offers Instructional Technology Services to faculty and students in the teaching and learning environment. - The University of Scranton in collaboration with the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) has been offering a 24/7 virtual chat reference service since the beginning of the fall 2004 semester. The AJCU Virtual Reference Service provides online reference via a chat interface to the students and faculty of the participating Jesuit institutions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. > Full story

- Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence New Services for Students and Faculty (Spring 2005)
- During the fall 2004 semester the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence (CTLE) provided peer tutoring, reading and writing consultation for more than 900 undergraduate and graduate students. Several workshops were provided to students to help them make the most of their time management and improve their study skills. In the spring 2005 semester students will be able to access several tutorials online related to note taking, reading strategies and organizational skills.

- Weinberg Library Introduces the Uniprint System for Laser Printing (Fall 2000)
- At the beginning of the Fall 2000 semester, the Weinberg Library will introduce the Uniprint System, a hardware/software system designed to control laser printing abuse, waste and rising costs for the students. > Full story

- Computing Capability in the Pro Deo Room Enhanced (Fall 1999)
- Eight new PCs have been installed in the Pro Deo Room as a complement to the existing PC Lab. These units are connected to the Campus Network and function just as do the lab units. Eight additional carrels have been equipped with ResNet access so that students may bring their own ResNet software-equipped laptops and connect as they do from other campus locations.

- Video Helps DHC Library Orientation (Spring 1998)
- What do you do when the time you have been given for orientation shrinks? Well, you look for innovative ways to cover the same material in a shorter span of time. Every department that participates in orientation has their own sermon to preach of what they know is essential for Dexter Hanley College students to hear. The librarians feel it is important that non-traditional students become familiar with the Library and where information is located, but the walking tour usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes. - Library Acquires New Database Services (Fall 1997)
- In 1985, the Reference staff at the University of Scranton Library previewed its first electronic index. The UMI CD-ROM product ABI-lnform, allowed patrons to use a dedicated personal computer equipped with a CD-ROM drive to search by keywords or phrases and find citations to approximately 800 business journals, with short summaries, referencing their topic. > Full story
