Samuel Johnson Exhibit in the Fall
The Weinberg Library is honored to host another exhibit from the Edward R. Leahy Collection. An exhibit on Samuel Johnson and his biographer James Boswell is scheduled for the Heritage Room during fall semester 2009 in honor of Johnson's 300th birthday. Johnson, born September 18, has been called "arguably the most distinguished man of letters in English history. "Johnson was a journalist, essayist, poet, novelist, literary critic, and biographer. However, he is perhaps best known as the compiler and author of the Dictionary of the English Language still known as "Johnson's Dictionary." The exhibit will also feature works by Johnson's biographer James Boswell. Boswell's "Life of Johnson" has been considered one of the first truly modern works of biography. Additional information will be made available during the summer at the library's website.Telephone: (570) 941-6341
