MEDLINE/PubMed (Free to everyone)PubMed, a retrieval service developed by the National Library of Medicine, provides access to MEDLINE, a database of more than 10 million bibliographic citations and abstracts in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care systems, and preclinical sciences. MEDLINE contains citations and author abstracts from over 4300 biomedical journals published in the United States and in 70 foreign countries. Coverage extends back to 1966 and new material is incorporated weekly. Journal articles are indexed for MEDLINE, and their citations are searchable, using NLM's controlled vocabulary, MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). MEDLINE is also available in FirstSearch and Lexis-Nexis.
