- The USA Patriot Act - A Follow-Up
- As many of us may recall, The USA Patriot Act was passed by Congress in October 2001 following the events of 9/11. Section 215 of the Act allowed federal authorities gathering foreign intelligence information or investigating international terrorism to obtain business records, including library use and library computer use records. Furthermore, libraries would not be allowed to disclose to the patron that his or her records had been investigated. The American Library Association, along with other civil liberties watchdog organizations such as the ACLU, have, of course, strenuously protested these provisions of the law. > Full story
- Aquinas Newspaper Digitalization Project
- The complete run of the Aquinas student newspaper will soon be available online. The Aquinas was inaugurated in newspaper format in 1930 and, because of inherent conservation problems with newsprint, many issues have become brittle. Working with OCLC and Bethlehem based Preservation Resources, Weinberg Library and the University Archives will microfilm and scan the original Aquinas newspaper. > Full story
- Muscular Dystrophy Association Art Exhibit
- A special exhibit of artworks created by individuals suffering from muscular dystrophy is scheduled for September 24 through October 4, in the Heritage Room. > Full story

- The Faculty Research Committee at the University of Scranton has awarded Bonnie Oldham an Internal Research Grant to evaluate the Weinberg Library's Web site using focus groups. Professor Oldham hopes to elicit users' perceptions of the seamlessness and self sufficiency of the site with her research which will be conducted in September. > Full story

- The University of Scranton community welcomes Andre Oberle, Ph.D. to our campus. Dr. Oberle received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Toronto, and he received his doctorate from Queen’s University in Toronto. > Full story
