Transportation Information

As you look through the agency descriptions you will see that some organizations are within walking distance from your school or on the SMARTRIDE route. However, many are not. The Community Outreach Office has a van for transportation to and from volunteer sites. Cooperative service experiences with students from both schools will be given first preference. Requests for individual transportation to and from volunteer sites need to be made at least one week in advance, either by coming in to our office in person or filling out the request on line. Rides are available, based on the schedules of the student drivers, within the Scranton area.

Some organizations are also on the SMARTRIDE Route.

SMARTRIDE is the vehicle used for cross-registration between the University of Scranton and Marywood University. The SMARTRIDE leaves the University of Scranton five minutes after the hour and Marywood University thirty-five minutes after the hour. There are some service sites on the route. Students performing service at the following agencies could use this mode of transportation: Jewish Home, Meals on Wheels, Scranton Area Family Center, Early Head Start, Green Ridge Library, United Cerebral Palsy, Community Intervention Center, United Neighborhood Centers, St. Joseph's Center, Holy Family Residence, Fricchione Day Care, and Marian Convent.
