Microsoft Word 2010 - The Navigation Pane

Word’s new Navigation Pane hosts a set of related features for navigating within your document, searching for content, and manipulating the structure and organization of headings.

Access the pane to navigate within your document or to rearrange and move content.

How to:

  1. Open an existing Word document.
  2. Click the tab View and then in the group Show click the box labeled Navigation Pane. Notice that the headings resemble nested tabs.
  3. Click on a heading to navigate to that location within the document.
  4. Drag and drop a tab to move a heading and the related content to a new location within the document.
    Or
  5. Right-click on a heading and choose Denote or Promote from the shortcut menu.
