The Jump Menu

Behaviors menu

A jump menu can provide a list of several links to remote documents, email links, graphics, or any other type of file that can be linked to within a HTML document. It uses a pre-coded behavior that allows visitors to make a selection t in turn triggers an event to open the selected link.

Insert a Jump Menu

  1. If the Task Pane is not open please open it (click on the menu View | Task Pane).

  2. Click on the down arrow and select Behaviors from the short-cut menu. Click on"Jump Menu" and the Jump Menu Properties dialog box will open. Click on the check box to place a checkmark in the"Select first item after URL change box. This option returns the first item to the first position after a selection has been made (useful when the user uses the back button to return and make another selection).

  3. Click on the Add button and type the first entry"Select One" in box labeled"Choice" and leave the value empty. Click on the Ok button.

  4. Click on Add button again to add another choice. When adding"Values" you can use Absolute and Relative URLs" that link to web pages, Word documents, or PDF files. For example, type University of Scranton for the Choice and http://www.scranton.edu as the Value. Click on the button Ok to close the Add Choice box.

  5. To add another choice click on the Add button again. Type in a Relative Address for a web page that is inside your directory or use the fictional page listed in the example below. For example, fictional page called Results. Type"Results" for the Choice and for the Value type"results.doc.", this would open the fictional Word document called Results from your web directory.
