Summer Orientation

In order to help you get ready for college life, The University of Scranton will hold two-day Summer Orientation sessions for new first-year students and their parents/guardians. Families can choose from one of four sessions that are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis with an effort made to ensure equal representation of students from each of our academic colleges. Later in the summer, we will send you information about our Fall Welcome program. It is imperative that new students attend these programs to ensure the proper start of college life at The University of Scranton.

REGISTRATION

The University of Scranton will be conducting four summer orientation sessions for 2008. You may choose one session from sessions held on:

This will allow you to take advantage of all that is tightly scheduled over the two-day period. Students will be housed in traditional freshman residences and should pack the following items:

Parents:
The University will be unable to provide on-campus accommodations for parents/guardians/guests. However, we have several special rates with local area hotels. Any of our parents/guardians/guests may access local hotel information from this webpage.

SCHEDULE INFORMATION

Check-in begins at 8:00 am.  The program on the first day begins at 9:30 am with breaks at lunch and again at dinner. A variety of informative and interactive sessions as well as evening entertainment will continue until 10:30 pm for students and 9:30 pm for parents and guests. The second day of the program begins in the morning and ends after course registration and advising have been completed, usually early afternoon. So that we may score placement tests adequately and provide individual academic advising, new first-year students must stay for the full program. There will be a separate student and parent/guest track of the program. The following are examples of programs for each track.
