The Orientation will begin at 8:00 am on the first day and continue through about 1:30 pm the second day.
The students and parents each have a different schedule to follow that is packed for both days. Although most of the activities included are separate, there will be a few times where they overlap and you can see your parents/student for a short amount of time. Just don't plan on spending the whole day with them.
New freshmen will be able to register onlin in the my.scranton portal in mid-May. Sessions are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited in numbers for each academic college. Call us if you have any problems with the registration form.

Yes. The University does not provide sheets and a pillow so bring whatever you feel you would need to sleep over for one night. Keep in mind, it is only one night, so you won't need to bring a lot. Your schedule will be full. We included a list of items to bring under the accommodations section.
YES! The two-day Orientation session is filled with essential information including Academic Advising, various placement testing, and important information about services and resources you will need to make a successful transition to the University. Since the schedule is so full and there is opportunity to interact with fellow students, Orientation Assistants, staff, and faculty it is highly encouraged that you stay overnight as not to miss out on any of the important sessions or activities.
There is a separate schedule for parents throughout Orientation where they will receive information about their son's/daughter's transition into college life. They will also get a chance to meet and speak with faculty and staff and ask any questions they might have regarding the University. It is highly encouraged that parents/guardians attend the Orientation Program.
When you register online, after hitting the submit button, a receipt will pop up on the screen. This is your confirmation. No additional information will be mailed to you regarding Orientation. There is information on the receipt regarding where to check in once you arrive at the University.
Students and/or parents who may need special accommodations for the Summer Orientation program should call the Orientation Office at (570) 941-6233. Students with testing needs must call the Orientation Office for assistance no later than June 4, 2010.
