Office of Residence Life

FOR ALL STUDENTS:

FOR ALL STUDENTS:

The Office of Residence Life is pleased to announce that the 2005-06 housing lottery will be held online. All students participating in the housing lottery will be able to choose their roommates, housing assignments and meal plans all from the comfort of their own rooms or anywhere internet access is available.

The housing lottery is the process the University uses to allow students to choose their assignments for the next academic year.  The following is an overview of important dates and processes that you should know in order to make your lottery experience as smooth as possible.

  1. December 1, 2004

Housing Deposit

All students applying for housing are required to pay a $200.00 housing deposit to the Bursar’s office by Wednesday December 1, 2004. This payment can be made by check or cash (in person).  Checks should be made out to The University of Scranton. This housing deposit will be applied to your bill at the July 2005 billing.

  1. December 8, 2003 – February 13, 2004

Lottery Identification Number (LIN)

Every student participating in pre-lottery is assigned a Lottery Identification Number (LIN).  You will need to know your LIN and the LIN of any future roommates to continue in the process.  You can access your LIN through the University Information System (UIS). To enter UIS, enter the following URL, https://uis.uofs.edu/.  When the main menu screen appears, select ‘Student and Financial Aid’.  On the next screen, select ‘Residence Life Menu’.  On the next screen, select ‘Display Student LIN’. The LIN will be used to enter your information as well as any potential roommate identification into the system. Please make sure that you share your LIN only with your potential roommates.

  1. December 8, 2003 – January 16, 2004

Pre-Lottery Application

Once you have your LIN and/or LINs of your future roommates you are now able to select which housing process is right for your needs. If you are planning to live in Special Interest Housing (Theme Housing) or return to your current assignment you can enter UIS and either select your current assignment and provide roommate information or you can complete an application for Theme Housing. If you are returning to Theme Housing, there is an application for that as well.  You can do this by going to the ‘Pre-lottery’ menu option in the Residence Life menu. You can then select the appropriate pre-lottery application.
