Violence Prevention Policy

The draft policy on the prevention of Workplace Violence is being reviewed and should be published by 1 January 2002. The draft policy defines behavior that constitutes Prohibited behaviors in the University workplace with the objective of developing a caring Community United Against Violence. The policy details the following points:

  • By training members of the University community to identify warning signs of behavior.

  • By establishing clear procedures to follow in reporting threats or acts of violence.

  • By encouraging employees to report incidents without fear of reprisal or retribution.

  • By responding promptly, positively, and assertively to reports or incidents.

  • By providing assistance to community members who are experiencing personal difficulties effecting their performance
