September Crime Prevention Tip


On-Campus Living

  • Lock your door every time you leave the room - even if it's just for a few minutes.
  • Be wary of isolated spots - walk with a friend, particularly at night.
  • Don't leave valuables, like your wallet, checkbook or jewelry in open view.
  • Don't keep large sums of money in your dorm room.
  • If you see unusual activity or actual crime like burglary, vandalism, or assault, report it to public safety (7888).

Off-Campus Living

  • Lock all doors every time you leave the house - even if it's just for a few minutes.
  • Make sure there are no dark areas around the house that would hide prowlers.
  • Make sure every outside door has a bright working light.
  • Be wary of isolated spots - walk with a friend, particularly at night.
  • Don't leave valuables, like your wallet, checkbook or jewelry in open view.
  • Don't keep large sums of money in your apartment. · Take care of your keys. Don't give anyone the chance to duplicate them.
  • If you see unusual activity or actual crime like burglary, vandalism, or assault, report it to public safety (941-7888) or the local police (348-4141).
