The University of Scranton Physics and Electrical Engineering Department has been preparing students wishing to pursue careers in the natural sciences for nearly fifty years. The Bachelor of Science degree in Physics has been conferred since 1938, with a large majority of those alumni pursuing advanced degrees at some of the most prestigious schools in the world. Former physics students of the University have established themselves in academic settings as Princeton, Notre Dame, University of New Mexico, and numerous other institutions including the University of Scranton itself. One may also find University alumni with NASA, Rockwell, Bell Labs, and other prestigious companies.
The Electrical Engineering program was instituted in the Fall of 1976, expanding upon the two year Electronics program previously offered at the school. Since then, numerous alumni have gained recognition throughout the world in academia and industry. The program stresses creative problem solving, a thorough understanding of physical principles, and self-reliance.
Being set in a Jesuit, liberal arts institution students enrolled in the Physics/E.E department at the University of Scranton are enriched through classes most "engineering schools" can't offer. The Scranton student leaves the school with a better understanding of nature, himself, and a pathway to spiritual discovery.
