Combined Bachelor's/Master's Degree Programs

History majors at the University of Scranton can obtain both the bachelor's and the master's degree within four calendar years. This special program requires students to take classes during Intersession and Summer Session.

Admission to this program is contingent on approvals from the History department, the Graduate School (an application must be submitted), and the College of Arts and Sciences. Students ordinarily apply for the History program during their Sophomore year.

To apply to the History program, the student must have obtained a 3.2 GPA (4.0 scale). This average must be maintained throughout the program.

Of course, students enrolled in this program are still required to complete all other degree requirements specified by the College of Arts and Sciences and The Graduate School as specified in their catalogs.

Scheduling

Courses are offered from 4:30-7:10 p.m. and 7:20-10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each course meets one night per week in the Fall and Spring Semesters. Ordinarily, the degree must be completed within six consecutive years. Applicants may start courses in September, January, or February.

Student Satisfaction

Graduates of our programs in History reported very high levels of satisfaction according to a recent Graduate School survey. The faculty received high marks for enthusiasm, expertise, and quality of teaching.
