The DIR Computer Virus Notification System is a electronic mailing list designed to safeguard the members of the University community from computer viruses by emailing subscribers the following information:
- Alerts about new and damaging computer viruses and virus hoaxes
- Update/Upgrade procedures
- Tips on how to avoid being infected by new computer viruses
You are not automatically subscribed to receive these email alerts. You must subscribe from your own computer as follows:
- Click SUBSCRIBE
- Click Send in the Composition box to receive computer virus alerts via email about any new viruses that threaten the university.
If you successfully subscribed to the list, you should receive an email containing the following:
- The address: username@UofS.eduhas been added to the virus-notification mailing list
by Full Name <Username@UofS.edu>
- If you have a signature file or v-card setup for your email you may also receive a email message with the subject: Problems in PMDF Mailserv V6.0 command processing
- As long as you also received the above "username added" email message you are subscribed to receive email alerts. You will receive alerts and information about computer viruses from DIR at the email address you subscribed from.
If at any time you no longer wish to receive these computer virus alerts you need to unsubscribe from the list from your own computer as follows:
- Click UNSUBSCRIBE
- Click Send in the Composition box to be removed from the list
If you successfully unsubscribed to the list, you should receive an email containing the following:
- The address: username@UofS.eduhas been removed from the virus-notification mailing listby Full Name <Username@UofS.edu>
