Student ANGEL Navigation
This tutorial will introduce you to the basics of ANGEL, the University’s standard web-based courseware tool.
Accessing ANGEL
Logging into ANGEL
- To access ANGEL, go to my.scranton.edu . This brings you to My Scranton.
- Log on as you normally would to access My Scranton..
- Once inside My Scranton, click the University Links tab.
- Under General University Links, click Angel.
- This will log you into your ANGEL home page.
ANGEL Email
Using Email in ANGEL
ANGEL Email can be used to send and receive messages. All ANGEL email will be associated with an ANGEL course.
- Click the course you want to view or send email from, from your ANGEL Homepage.
- Once inside the course, click View Inbox, which is located in the Course Mail nugget on the right side of the page.
- System folders will be located on the left side of the page.
- All email from the selected course will be displayed on the right.
- Click Compose New Message to create a new email.
- To add mail recipients, click the TO: button.
- Click once on the users you would like to send an email to from the list. Click a distribution list (Item of Type 'Group') to send an email to multiple users. For instance, to send an email to all students in the course, click the All course students group.
- Click
to add the selected users as email recipients. They will appear in the box to the right.
- Click the OK button at the bottom left-hand side of the window.
- Add a title to the Subject box.
- Add your email message below the Subject box.
- Click Send.
Submitting an Assignment
Using a Dropbox
A Dropbox is used for file submission.

Click the course you want to submit a file in.
- Go to Lessons and locate the appropriate Dropbox.
- Click the Dropbox, then click the Attachments button .
- In the new window, click Browse and locate the file you would like to submit.
- Click the Upload button. If you would like to attach another file, repeat Step 4.
- Once all files are uploaded, click Finished.
- Add an optional Title for your submission, then click Submit.
Discussion Forums
Communicating via Discussion Forums
Use the forums to read, post and/or print messages from your instructor and fellow students.
- Click the Course you would like to use the discussion forum in.
- Click Lessons and locate the Discussion Forum you'd like to communicate in.
- Once inside the forum, click the thread you would like to reply to, or click New Post to start a new thread.
- To reply - click the thread, then click Reply at the bottom of the page.
- To print a forum, click Print at the bottom of the page.
Accessing Grades
How to access your grades

Once inside ANGEL, click the course you would like to view grades for.
- In the Grades nugget, click Refresh.
*Note: ANGEL does not automatically update grades in the Grades nugget.
- To view a grade report, click the Report tab.
- Select Grades in the Category drop-down list.
- Click Run and you will be shown a report of all your grades.
