Online Catalog

You can go to the library and find what you need, or you can use the online catalog to search and hold an item in the library at your own computer. The online catalog contains books, journals, media, course reserves, and more. This tutorial will show you how to search through the catalog and find information about a particular item in the library.

* There are two methods that you can use to go through the following tutorials. One is to foll ow the steps outlined below or you can click on the Camera Icon to view a video.

  1. Go to the Weinberg Memorial Library’s homepage: www.scranton.edu/library
  2. You can search the online catalog by Keyword, Title, or Author directly from the homepage.
  3. In the center of the page, place your cursor on “Library Catalogs.” Move your cursor to the right and click on Our Catalog.
  4. You will be able to search the catalog by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, ISSN/ISBN, Call #. In this example, we will search for books dealing with nursing theorists.
  5. To do a Keyword search, click on the Keyword Tab. To find materials held by the Weinberg Library, type the keyword term “nursing theorists” in the text box, and then click on the search button.
  6. This search will retrieve a list of items that the Library has focusing on nursing theorists. As you scroll through the list, you will notice that the most relevant titles are entries 1 to 5 and that they are displayed in chronological order with the most recent copyright first. For more information on a specific book, click on the Title of the book.
  7. On this page, you will find information about the book including title, author, publication information, location of the book within the collection, call number, the date the book is due back, edition, number of pages, if the book has a bibliography or index, description of the contents with each chapter explained and highlighted, subject heading, additional authors, and ISBN number.
