Meet the CTLE Staff

Mark Burkhart

Writing Center Coordinator

As Writing Center Coordinator, my primary responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center on a part-time basis. In addition, I serve as an adjunct in the English Department. I recruit, train, and supervise the consultants in the CTLE who work with students seeking help with their writing.

Another important part of my position involves developing and coordinating special projects and workshops. For example, many of the student consultants as well as the adjunct faculty consultants have developed workshops and tutorials focusing on many aspects of writing. And naturally, through collaboration with CTLE staff, new plans and projects continue to emerge.

I hold a B.A. in English from Kings College and an M.A. in English from the University of Scranton. Because I’ve been teaching Composition as well as Advanced Composition, Technical Writing, and several introductory literature courses here at the university since the fall of 1989, I feel uniquely qualified to understand the needs of our writing students.
