  • Take control and responsibility for your own learning

  • Identify yourself to the professor when learning assistance is needed

  • Know your strengths and weaknesses

  • Specify both long-term and short-term goals for your educational expectations

  • Time management and study skills are critical for academic success

  • Must identify problems as they arise and seek help to resolve them

  • Be aware that learning occurs when dialogue and feedback takes place

  • Schedule ongoing meetings with professors provide opportunities for open communication on your progress in the course

  • Have a support systems outside the classroom

  • Know that persistence is often the key to discovering solutions

  • Know that motivation is an important factor in learning

  • Ask for help with personal difficulties you may be having by seeing a professional in the counseling center on campus
