Online Course Evaluation (OCE) System
Rate Objectives:
Q: How do I rollover course objective ratings and/or additional questions from a previous semester?
You can rollover objectives and/or additional questions from a previous semester. The system automatically matches the courses and performs the rollover for the term you indicate. Please note that you can rollover from only one semester. Once you rollover objectives and/or additional questions, you will be able to edit/view them. However, you cannot choose the rollover feature if you have already rated your objectives or added additional questions.
Follow these procedures to rollover objectives and/or additional questions:
- Log into My.Scranton using your Username and Password.
- Click on the Employee tab.
- Click on Self Service (UIS).
- Click on Faculty Services tab.
- At the bottom of the screen, click Faculty Course Evaluation Menu.
- Click Rollover Objectives and/or Additional Questions from Previous Semester(s).
- Select the Rollover Option you desire:
- Objectives and Additional Questions
- Objectives Only
- Additional Questions Only
- Indicate the Term to Rollover From.
- Click Submit. A confirmation screen appears listing the course(s) for which the rollover was performed.
- Click Return to UIS.
Q: When will I be able to rate my objectives?
Each semester an email will be sent out to faculty informing them to access the Online Course Evaluation System and rate their objectives. Most often, the timeframe for this will be shortly after mid-semester grades are due to the registrar.
Q: How do I rate my course objectives?
Please choose the preferred method to access Online Course Evaluations

on Faculty and Advisors.
- At
the bottom of the screen, click Faculty Course Evaluations Menu.
- Click Faculty
Objectives.
a. Select the Rating Option and click Submit.
b. Rate the Course Objectives by clicking on the desired radio button.
NOTE: A minimum of one, ESSENTIAL or IMPORTANT, goal is required for your
course, however, it is recommended that you select between three and five.
c. Click Submit.
d. Click Return to UIS.
My.Scranton:
- Log into My.Scranton (http://my.scranton.edu)
using your Username and Password
- Click on the Employee tab.
- Click on Self Service (UIS).
- Click on Faculty Services tab.
- At the bottom of the screen, click Faculty
Course Evaluations Menu.
- Click Faculty Objectives.
a. Select the Rating Option and click Submit.

Q: Do I have to rate objectives for all of my courses at once?
Yes. Once you access the faculty objectives section, the Online Course Evaluation System requires you to rate objectives for ALL of the courses you are teaching. However, you will have the ability to access them again and modify them if it is still within the timeframe when faculty have access to the Online Evaluation System.
Q:What happens if I don’t rate my course objectives?
If you fail to rate your course objectives within the timeframe that faculty are given access, all objectives will automatically be defaulted to "Important."
Q: When I access the evaluation system to rate my objectives a message appears indicating that I don’t have access to the system at this time. What should I do?
Q: Can I rate my course objectives after the due date has passed?
No. Unfortunately, once students are given access to the Course Evaluation System faculty can no longer rate objectives or add additional questions.

Q: When will I be able to add additional questions for my course evaluations?
Additional questions can be entered by faculty anytime during the timeframe where the Online Course Evaluation System is open to faculty to rate their objectives and/or add additional questions.
Q: How do I add additional questions for my course evaluations?

- Click on Faculty and Advisors.
- At the bottom of the screen, click Faculty
Course Evaluations Menu.
- Click Additional Questions.
- Use the drop down menu to select
the Term.
- Click the Submit button.
- On the next screen, use the drop
down menu to select the course you wish to add additional questions
for.
- In the first empty
field provided, type in all instructions for each additional question you
wish to include. This may be necessary
in order for the students to properly answer the question(s)
- Next to each numbered
field, type in your additional question. Continue this to enter up to
12 additional questions.
- Click the Submit button.
Q: How many additional questions can I enter?
Up to 12 additional questions can be entered
Q: Can I add additional questions after the due date has passed?
No. Unfortunately, once students are given access to the Online Course Evaluation System faculty can no longer rate objectives or add additional questions.
Q: Can I rate each of my additional questions differently?
Yes, however, at the top of the additional question section you must include explicit instructions in the explain field on how to rate each question.
Q: Can I edit an additional question, after I have added it?
Yes, provided you are still within the timeframe when faculty has access to rate objectives or enter additional questions.
Q: Can I delete an additional question, after I created it, if I change my mind?
Yes, provided you are still within the timeframe when faculty has access to rate objectives or enter additional questions.
Q: Where will my additional question(s) appear on the course evaluation?
Additional questions will appear toward the bottom of the evaluation, before the question "What is your expected grade in this class?".
Q: Is there a limit to the length of the additional question(s) I enter?
Yes. There is a limit of 200 characters for each additional question.
Q: Can I enter "open ended" questions for additional questions?
No. Additional questions make use of the Likert scale rating. You can define the scale (1=; 2=; 3=; 4=; 5=; NR) in the Explain field.

Q: How do I preview my evaluations (after I’ve rated objectives and/or added additional question(s)?

the drop down menu to select the Term.

Q: What should I do if I preview my objectives and additional questions and they are not displayed correctly?
Chances are, the browser you are using is not setup to automatically "refresh or reload" pages you access on the internet. If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, choose "Refresh" from the View menu to reload the page. If you are using Netscape as your browser, choose "Reload" from the View menu to reload the page. If you wish to permanently change the setting of your browser so that it "always" reloads web pages when you access them, please call the Help Desk (xHELP) for specific instructions on how to do this.
Q: How do I view Course Evaluation Results (Counts and Comments)?
Please choose the preferred method to access Online Course

on the Faculty and Advisors.
- At the bottom
of the screen, click Faculty Course Evaluations Menu.
- Click View Course Evaluation
Results.
- Use the drop down
menu to select the Term.
NOTE: TO VIEW RESULTS FOR PREVIOUS TERMS, SIMPLY
SELECT THE DESIRED TERM
- Click the Submit button.
- On the next screen,
use the drop down menu to select the course.
- Use the drop down
menu to Select Viewing Options. Choose either Summary
Only or Summary and Detail.
- Use
the drop down menu to Select Show Comment and
choose the question(s) that you want to see comments for.
- Click the Submit button.
- The Summary and/or
Summary Detail information will appear on the next screen.
- You have the ability
to Change Term, Select Another Course or Return to UIS by clicking
on these buttons.

Q: Will I be able to view Course Evaluation Results (Counts and Comments) for a previous semester?
Yes. Choose the term you want to view from the drop-down menu.
Q: How do I print my evaluations?
From the menu bar, choose File – Print. Select the printer you want to print to and click the OK button.
Q: How Do I Obtain Summary Comparative Analyses for my course evaluations?
Beginning Summer I, 2006 term, you will be able to view Summary Comparative Analyses online once the CTLE staff has them completed. You will receive an email once they become available online. You can then print your Summaries from your web browser. Therefore, you will no longer receive paper copies of your Summaries through campus mail.
Q: When and how can I expect to see the results of the evaluation?
You can preview Evaluation Comments & Counts immediately after student access to the Online Course Evaluation System ends. Summary Comparative Analyses (below average, average, above average) will be mailed through campus mail at a later date.
Q: Why would a University of Scranton course that I am teaching not appear on my pull-down list?
Your course may have been excluded from the Online Course Evaluation System for various reasons such as Enrollment being less than 4 or a particular Schedule Type associated with the course.
Q: How long do I have access to my course evaluations?
A permanent archive of the online course evaluations will be maintained for the University of Scranton faculty. The archive will be available for you to download or print whenever you need them. For further information contact us at
