At the Department Level: Each faculty who teaches a course with a service learning component determines how the service experience (and related activities such as reflections) will be graded. Refer to your syllabus for details. College (Deans Office) The Dean's Office tracks service learning hours and maintains a database with the following information:
In addition to the grade that a course instructor may assign to the service learning experience, the Dean's office uses the information on the Time Sheets (properly filled out and signed) to record a grade for each student. This grade is used for purposes of tracking the hourly totals for purposes of graduation. The grade choices are 'S', 'U', 'I', or 'E' (transfer students only). "S" Satisfactory--indicates required hours were completed "U" Unsatisfactory-indicates that none of the required hours were completed "I" Incomplete--indicates some, but not all required hours were completed "E" Exempt--indicates that the transfer student is exempt from completing the required hours. Exemption requires an approved waiver form from the CPS Dean's Office. Please note: waiver forms are for transfer students only.
