One of the primary focuses of this department is research. All faculty members perform paper-quality research and supervise students doing similar projects under them. Three out of the six undergraduate majors -- Chemistry, Biochemistry Research, and Chemistry-Computers -- have a two-semester research course requirement built into their curriculum, and the other three have this course as a recommendation. Some of the courses required -- such as Chemistry Literature and Writing and Seminar -- are driven with research in mind while other courses develop the techniques needed to perform research, through either theoretical practices or actual applications.
