Photography Certificate Program
(60 HRS)
The Photography Certificate Program consists of 4 programs that range from basic photography issues, to learning how to create professional results with your digital camera. The student will participate in classroom projects as well as off-site shooting.
Programs will deal with essential issues of digital photography, transferring images to your computer, enhancing those images with Adobe Photoshop, and getting the perfect print.

 Photography – Basics and Concepts
(12 HRS)

In this program, students will learn basic photography concepts, how to use their camera, and learn what makes a good picture. Upon completion of this program, students will have a good basic knowledge of photography and equipment.

  • Learn to use your camera equipment properly (SLR, large format, and digital)

  • Capturing the perfect image

  • Depth of Field, lighting, framing shots

  • Developing and printing B&W and Color

 Digital Photography
(18 HRS) 
(Recommended prerequisite: Photography Basics and Concepts)

Students will learn how to use a digital camera to capture images and place them on their computer. Program includes demonstrations, exercises, and projects that will allow students to understand digital imaging and its many uses.

  • Understanding digital photography

  • Using your digital camera

  • Downloading to your computer

  • E-mail, web, and printing essentials

 Photo Correction and Repair
(18 HRS)
(Recommended prerequisites:  Photography Basics and Concepts and Digital Photography)

Correcting color, fixing photos with creases, spots, and other blemishes will be discussed in this program. Using popular imaging software, the digital photographer can turn routine photos into dynamic pictures able to be used on the web, or in print.

  • Understanding color, flesh tones, balance

  • Using imaging software, Photoshop etc.

  • Fixing old and damaged photos

  • Composite photos, creating photo art

 Course 4: Photography Projects
(12 HRS)

In the final program of the Photography Certificate, students will take their newly-acquired knowledge of photography and apply it to real-life projects. From portrait shots, to advertising, to scenic panoramas, students will use their skills for professional results.
