Design: Desktop Publishing

 Basics of Design 
(12 Hours)
This class includes principles of layout, color, typography, images, and composition. Students will be exposed to many of the elements essential to a career in graphic design, advertising, printing and web page design.

Page Layout with QuarkXpress 7.5
(24 HRS)
Students will learn page layout and design with the world's most popular page layout and production tool. The class will go from basic to intermediate level skill development and provide students with a hands-on, learn-as-you-go style that allows for individual attention to each participant. Students will be encouraged to experiment with various techniques and methods of production, to produce professional layout results.

Page Layout with Adobe InDesign CS4
(24 HRS)
Adobe's popular page-layout program that integrates perfectly with Adobe's Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS4. From single-page documents to magazines and other publications, this fast-growing program is easy to use and easy to learn. Creating interactive pages and PDFs become easy.  For our certificate program, this course can be substituted for the QuarkXpress course, as one of the required programs.

Adobe Photoshop CS4
(24 HRS)
This powerful image-editing program is the industry standard used by virtually all print and electronic media to produce and edit graphic images for both professional and personal use.

Adobe Illustrator CS4
(24 HRS)
One of the best creative software programs available today, Adobe Illustrator CS4 has long been used by graphics professionals as a drawing program with the versatility and depth that can help achieve professional results when working with original artwork, creating logos or enhancing images imported from other programs.

 Note: Students need to take QuarkXpress OR InDesign as their page layout choice to complete the certificate program.
