Technology Related Resources Available

The following technology related resources are available for faculty and staff.  To obtain these services please visit the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT), located on the 4th floor of St. Thomas Hall, Communications Wing.  For more information contact OIT at x7469.

Faculty Technological Needs Assessments
This involves meeting with faculty and determining how technology may be able to assist them in the classroom and enhance the student learning experience.

Blackboard Assistance
If you're interested in getting started using Blackboard or want further assistance with the use of the Blackboard features, contact OIT.  Learn how to use Blackboard to engage the students in more class participation/discussion and make review of course content more fun. Training sessions are offered throughout the year.  Staff and student technical consultants are available - by appointment - to meet with faculty for one-on-one assistance.

Web Consulting
TechCons (student consultants) are available to assist faculty and staff in developing, enhancing or updating web pages.  Web site design is done via storyboarding and documents are formatted with the appropriate HTML code.  It is not necessary for faculty and staff to have experience with HTML coding.

Training
Training on instructional technologies in general is offered throughout the year.  Faculty classroom training is provided when new classrooms are mediated, at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester and whenever faculty request assistance using the technology in a room they are teaching in. Workshops/seminars are held throughout the year on Pedagogy, Blackboard, E-Portfolio development and to showcase technology that is available and how it can be used to enhance teaching.

E-Portfolios
Faculty can get assistance in creating electronic portfolios.  Capturing still and video, transferring files from a digital or video camera to a computer, editing graphics and video, scanning, and saving everything to a server-based folder as well as burning it to a CD are all part of the E-Portfolio services offered.

Assistance with PowerPoint Presentations
Provide assistance to faculty and staff in creating/designing PowerPoint presentations. This includes incorporating text, graphics (photos and clipart), animation, audio/video, Web links and backgrounds to enhance the presentation.

Laminating and Transparency  Services
Faculty and staff can come to OIT to have items laminated or to get transparencies created for a nominal fee.

Assistance with the use of other multimedia resources
Staff and student technical consultants are available to assist faculty and staff in using multimedia resources that are available in OIT such as scanners, digital cameras,
video cameras, and color printers.

To obtain one of these services please visit the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT), located on the 4th floor of St. Thomas Hall, Communications Wing.  For more information contact OIT at x7469.
