Why you should own a labrador....
yellow and black labs                          yellow lab puppy

Labrador Retrievers are great pets for hunters because of their remarkable retrieving and swimming abilities. They have good instincts, senses and speed. Labs are also used for the handicapped. They are smart dogs that can assist their owners (if trained) in everyday living. Labs are also trained as seeing-eye dogs for the blind.
Labs are great for families. They are not vicious animals so they are not harmful to small children or infants. They become like one of your own children. They complete families like they have completed mine.
Most of all labradors are wonderful as loyal companions. They become one of your best friends. If you love them and treat them well, they love you and never leave your side. Personally, my two labs are great for when I need comfort. If I am sad, I cuddle with them and talk to them. And you don't have to worry about them telling anyone what you told them!  They even sense my every mood.
Labs are very easy to groom and do not shed as much as other dogs. They are very healthy too.
If you are considering getting a lab, you must know that labs are infamous for getting into mischief.  They have a  high level of intelligence which  makes them relatively easy to train. Remember, however, that bigger brains sometimes get into bigger trouble!  I have plenty of stories about my two labs running off with things around the house or chewing on my shoes. That is why it is a good idea to have play toys for the dogs, especially when they are teething as puppies.
Labs live for about ten to fifteen years. So your lab will be part of your and your family's lives for a long time to come.
